Passion Fruit Margarita

Makes 2 servings

Lime wedge
Coarse salt
6 ice cubes
4 oz. (½ cup) silver tequila
3 oz. (6 tbsp.) passion fruit puree
1½ oz. (3 tbsp.) Cointreau or triple sec
1 oz. (2 tbsp.) freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tbsp. superfine sugar

1. Lightly moisten the outside rim (not the top or inside) of two glasses with the lime wedge. Use 12-ounce glasses if serving on the rocks, or 8-ounce cocktail glasses if serving straight up. Dip the glasses in a small plate of salt, shake off the excess, and then set aside to dry.

2. Put 6 ice cubes in a tall cocktail shaker. Pour the liquids and the sugar into the shaker and shake vigorously. Pour, ice and all, into the large glasses, or strain into the small ones.

GG tip
Passion fruit puree can be found in the frozen-food aisle of your supermarket or at amazon.com: Try the Perfect Purée of Napa Valley, 30 oz. $25.
